Store Spotlight: Kenmare, ND

Within the footprint of Gooseneck Implement lies a hidden gem – Kenmare, the inaugural Gooseneck Implement location. It’s more than just a workplace; it’s a living legacy that embodies the spirit of Gooseneck – genuine passion and genuine gratitude.

In 1974, two visionary men, Daryl Borud and Tom Burkett, laid the foundation for what would become Gooseneck Implement. At the time, they didn’t know what to name this new John Deere Dealership, so they turned to their customers for inspiration. One customer, recognizing the unique geography of Kenmare, North Dakota, where the dealership was situated in the ‘gooseneck’ region of Ward County, suggested the name ‘Gooseneck Implement’ during a name contest. The association with the active flyways in North America for Canada, snow, and gray geese made the name not only geographically fitting but also symbolic of the dealership’s connection to the natural beauty surrounding Kenmare.

Fast forward to today, and the dealership stands as a testament to tradition, commitment, and a profound sense of community. Kevin Borud, the current owner, and son of Daryl, proudly continues the legacy, having acquired Gooseneck from his father in 1986.

Kenmare wears the badge proudly as the first Gooseneck Implement location. Steeped in an old-school mentality, the enduring tenure of its employees forms the core of Kenmare’s success. Individuals like Kent Neubauer, Phil Kelly, Layne Hoff, and Peter Thorp – as well as a group of service technicians who graduated from the JD Tech Program in Wahpeton, ND – have been instrumental in shaping the legacy of Gooseneck. Notably, Gary Rude, Aftermarket Account Manager, stands as a living testament to three generations of Boruds, reflecting the deep roots that bind Kenmare.

The extraordinary bond between Kenmare’s team and its customers spans decades, with some relationships stretching an impressive 20 – 30+ years. It’s not just a transaction; it’s a generational partnership, creating a dynamic that fuels our team’s unwavering drive to meet and exceed expectations.

Community engagement is not a mere checkbox for Kenmare; it’s ingrained in its identity. From fundraisers to active participation in local volunteer fire and ambulance teams, commitment to the community is unwavering. Kenmare invests in the future by supporting local schools, FFAs, and fostering connections with the younger generation.

Yet, what shines most at our Kenmare location is its people. Passion, care, and a genuine desire to see customers succeed define our success. The secret behind our achievements is the cohesive team and understanding of the power of collaboration. Tales of teamwork echo through Kenmare’s history – customer in need, teams mobilizing overnight, and tractor engines replaced within 24 hours is one exemplification of our culture. Going the extra mile isn’t just a choice; it’s ingrained in our DNA.

The team at Kenmare is the heartbeat that sustains our unique culture. With a work ethic deeply rooted in the community, members have made working until midnight and committing to the rhythms of spring work and harvest season a tradition. The team is a dedicated force, ensuring support around the clock to keep our customers going.

Kenmare isn’t just a Gooseneck Implement location; it’s a community, a family, and a legacy. Job opportunities abound, and the welcoming atmosphere makes the town a great place to live. Kenmare is a testament to the enduring spirit of Gooseneck. Every day is an opportunity to embrace the legacy that defines us. Join us in celebrating Kenmare – where every moment is a page in the living history of Gooseneck Implement.
