ELGIN, ND — A groundbreaking ceremony was held on Wednesday, October 9 for the new Gooseneck Implement store located in Elgin, ND. Gooseneck Implement is a John Deere dealer with 13 locations across western North and South Dakota.

The contractor, North Star Steel, has laid plans to expand on the current shop in the Elgin location. The new store will have a larger parts storage area, sales offices, shipping and receiving area and a wash bay. The completed facility will be 27,840 square feet, which is an additional 18,240 square feet onto the current shop structure.

Gooseneck Implement and Elgin community leadership were at the groundbreaking ceremony, including Kevin Borud, Gooseneck General Manager.

“We’re really excited about this investment as a company,” Borud said. “We have great people working for us here in Elgin and we’re excited to start working on this building.”

Ron Bartz, Mayor of Elgin, was also present at the groundbreaking. “This is probably the biggest, most important project that I’ve worked on,” said Bartz. “We thank everybody for what they’re doing for us.”

Jamie Melgaard, CEO of Gooseneck Implement, said they are very excited to get to this phase in the project where people can actually see progress. Melgaard also shared his appreciation to the Elgin community for the support.

“Thank you, to our employees and customers for being very understanding and patient throughout this process,” said Melgaard. “Our Elgin building, once completed, will help us attract talent and the working conditions will provide a safe and efficient work environment where our people can excel and provide solutions to our customers ever-changing needs.”

Melgaard added that they will continue hiring people, specifically service technicians, to help serve Elgin and the surrounding communities.
